I drove my 03' yesterday and stopped and started it several times without incident. After sitting for a few hours, went out to start it and NOTHING!! Stone dead! A clicking sound (relay?) was coming from the passenger footwell fuse panel. When I checked the battery it read 9.4 volts. After disconnecting the negative terminal it read 12.3 to 12.4, but as soon as I re-connected it, under load, it dropped back to the low 9 volt range. Also, with the key out if I opened the door and the lights went on the clicking sound from the footwell would sometimes start again. Opening the hood, the under hood light would be on, then go dim and go out. Time for a new battery I suspect?
Sounds like battery time... Could be a loose terminal, a loose post a bad battery or alternator
Get a jump start, then with the car running check the votage across the battery again. It should be >13.8V
If you can get it running also consider taking it to an autoparts store like AutoZone. With it running they will do an aouto electic diahgnosis and confirm what's wrong.
Good Luck
I just installed an Exide Orbital and all is well! Got a great deal at Kragen's in Simi Valley, (many thanks to Robbie, who was terrific to deal with), as they matched a price I found on the Internet, and then BEAT it by another 5%! All I have to do now is reset the clock!
Thanks for the help Guys!
