Can the factory tunnel plate be removed without taking the stock exhaust off of the car. Can the reinforced plate (abs of Steel) be installed in the same manner or do you have to remove the exhaust.
I had one put on my vert and I don't see how you could do the job without dropping the exhaust. It's so tight under there and there are 32 bolts to remove and put back in.

Ok time for the noob question. Why add the weight of an added plate to the car?
Along with stiffening the structure of the car, which will lessen any creaking you may have and improve the handling, it will also reduce heat and noise through the console into the interior.
This would be a savings if the info pans out. I just e-mailed Gene @ Fred Beans to give me a price and part #. I will post info here as soon as he responds.

The Part Number for the C6 Tunnel Panel Reinforcement is 10384612, as per my trusted GM parts guy you have to put one on order and ……….wait……….
Keep in mind the stock C6 plate is only 1/8" thick aluminum and is not ceramic coated. Without the coating, it may actually increase console temperatures by retaining more heat from the exhaust.

Hey Roadrace65 Have you noticed this extra heating up issue? Have not heard of this problem with the C-6 guys i've talked to.
