I have a '99 with minimal mods. (K&N, Corsa). Just regular street driving and a few trips to the drag strip annually. Have 35,000 miles and no problem yet but want to plan ahead because that's all I got from my C4 clutch. It seems like the Z06 clutch is highly thought of as a replacement. Does the flywheel need to be changed too? Is that the same as Luk stage 2 ?. Any other suggestions ?
Thanks,
VINNY
I have a 99 also with 40k on it. The slave cylinder started to leak and of course went all over the disc. I was attempting to impress a buddy when the motor went to six grand and the car barely moved.
I went with the Luk stage 2, alum. flywheel and ZO6 everything else. I'm way pleased. The clutch pedal is actually lighter and feels awesome. Anyone could drive it now and not look stupid. For a piece of mind I would do the flywheel. Mine seems to wind up faster. There is advantages with the heavier flywheel also though. But for that much work (I paid a shop because I don't have acsess to a lift) might as well do it all at the same time.
Might be worth a look. People seemed pleased to far... DON'T get an LS6 clutch
You NEED to upgrade the hydraulics to the new design. In 01 they changed them, for the better. It's about $100 for the master and $100 for the slave cyls.
I personally went with a SPEC Stage III and Billet Steel Flywheel with new hydraulics.. OVERKILL for you, but seems great so far.
