Default Bitten by mod bug already!

I am a newbie to this site and for owning a Corvette. I have only had my first 99 coupe for 1 month and its been killing me to start the diy mods. I started last weekend with cutting down air box lid. I cut the center down and drilled holes to the sides of that and then more holes on the outer sides. Then read a post last night about cove vent removal. I was out in the garage until 11:00 p:m getting those vents out. Today I am going to remove the fog light shrouds. Thought about cutting them, but I think I will keep them if I ever decide to put them back. I will post pics when I figure out how.

Just finished removing the fog light shrouds. Don't know if I like the open cavity. Do you guys leave it open or put a screen/grill in place? I am going to take it for a test drive tonite when my wife gets home to watch the kids for me. I am hoping the LS1 will pull harder with the cold air coming in and having a place to escape.

I cut the fog light surrounds and put the Z06 screens to protect the engine compartment from picking up any debris.

Oh yes the mod fever is spreding!! I just got my Black 99 coupe last week on the 15th. And I have already ordered a borla exhaust, new tail lights, clear rear side markers and clear front signals. And also started painting the intorior. I think next I will lower the vette just on the stock bolts. Hmmm so much to do what next?!?!?!

LOL

Drove the Corvette late last night and it pulled harder than ever. It even seems more responsive at lower RPM's. What are you guys doing to lower your cars? Does it hurt the handling or do the factory tires rub after lowered. Nate, you mentioned lowering using stock bolts. Is it a time consuming job to do this? Jim

BlackMidNite,
If you lower your car, will it be for the look or the performance gain, if any? Just curious. I am good with doing mods but do not want to destroy the handling by lowering just for looks. Does anyone know if the tires will rub after a lowering mod?

Default lowering

Lowering the car 1' doesn't cause the tires to rub. It does make the car handle a little better and look a lot better. You can dig up posts on the forum with pictures on how to. Downside is you might want to have the alignment checked.

Thanks to all. Looks like I might seriously being lowering my baby by one inch. I forgot to add that I removed my MAF screen yesterday. I don't know if it improved the performance but it feels like it did. The tires have been breaking loose alot easier in the last 24Hrs but the temp has dropped to the 30's in the evening and I sure I am just losing traction due to colder pavement/tires.
