3.73 gears please help me out
hi i am thinking about getting 3.73 gears in my 2000 frc. i would like to know what will 4th gear top out at 6500 rpms. right now i have the 4.10s and just had a new motor put in and would like to take it to the track the only problem is i will trap around 126-130 mph which will take me into 5th . 
i would like to trap in 4th and am hoping 3.73 will do that for me or would i have to get the 3.42.

Before you do anything, I would take it to the track and run it. New setups don’t always run as fast as they’re “supposed” to. You should be able to run 123-124 mph with your 4.10’s at 6500 rpm.
If you really do run 126-130 get a slightly taller tire or raise your rev limiter a little.
Worst case scenario, go with 3.90 gears. Those should get you well up into the 130’s.

You might be right I top at in 4th just about 123-125. one of the reasons i want to go to 3.73 is i will be doing a few more mods that will put me over 500 rwhp and 500 rwtq so i figure down the line i would be even traping faster so the 3.73 would hopfully be ok.
A lot of guys with between 500 and 550 or so rwhp seem to run 3.90s. I think 3.90’s will give you around 136 mph in 4th gear.
If you’re going to run faster than 136 mph in the ¼, then 3.73’s should be the ticket.
