Friend has ported oil pump question...
A friend of mine is installing a head/cam package and asked why everyone installs a ported oil pump when they do a head/cam swap. I know it's common practice, but I'm not sure why. Any ideas?

One reason is that when you do a cam install you are right down to the pump and its not that much more work at that time. Since you are installing a cam and head package you are going to be running the engine harder and a little extra insurance has never hurt.
