Default Front Lowering Bolthead Stripped!?

Lowered the back easily..the front was not moving so I gave it a little muscle and rounded the 10mm head (and smashed my wrist on the caliper). I even removed the bottom of the shock and jacked the spring a little to get good leverage! Must have been frozen pretty bad. Any ideas? or do I have to take it in somewhere.

Can I take the lower arm off to get a bite from the bottom? Thanks for any advice.

Anyone know a good Vette' guy in Austin?

Default front bolt

You can take one end of the spindle loose and drop the bottom control arm to get access to the rubber covered bolt. It will screw out from the bottom-thats how some people take them out to cut the rubber down to lower the front lower than it will go by just screwing the bolt to the stop.

Did you turn the bolt counterclockwise? To lower the front, turn the bolt clockwise from the top or counterclockwise from the bottom.

you need to jack up the SPRING until the bolt is no longer touching the lower control arm before you try to adjust the bolt

spray some WD-40 and let it soak....mine was frozen also....i dropped the control arm and put a bigger socket and rachet. Once it breaks loose it screws up and down by hand easily.

I did lift the spring....didn't matter.

If I drop the control arm to access the underside, is there a rubber piece that covers it, since it's sitting on the arm? If so, what's the best way to get to the bolt head? Sounds good. It's simple enough to do....unless it won't turn.

Thanks for the advice

Lifting the spring is only part of it. As said above, the bushing must be free of the lower control arm. The bushing gets stuck on there often and has to be pried loose.

Use penetrating oil.

Then use channel locks or vice grips and grab the metal part of the bushing. (under the spring)

Right now it does not matter which way you turn the bolt. You would be happy if it just turned so try both ways.
