Try this one, it does have some simple algebra, but far from calculus

Very nice. The important thing to note, and what always seems to be ignored, is that hp is derived by measuring torque- period. In other words, you can't have one without the other. It drives me crazy when people say, "yeah, that guy is making lots of hp at high rpm, by my engine has a lot of torque and will beat him off the line." Bull pucky. (Unless the guy with lots of hp at high rpm doesn't have his car geared right...)

or his wheels are not on the ground!

A friend of mine had a late model F body GTA trans am...he had some serious mods done to it (it was a fixed roof version with no t-tops) the HP\TQ his engine was putting out actually twisted the uni-body and caused the roof seams at the back to crack I have never seen such a twist before when he jumped on it...like wrenching up a beer can!
