Dude your smoking crack..........you would only see those kind of numbers from a 422 or 427! (They might be pulling them from 408's too, but I don't know!) You would be lucky to see 525 from the motor of a 383! You could put a hefty nitrous setup on a 383 motor and get ungodly numbers, but if you want 600hp from your motor alone, you will have to search for more than the 383 has to offer! Just the simple facts my freinds..............

Go to the big vendors and see what they have built for there customers! You'll see what I'm talking about!
your quote: "Well MTI and a few others are building some 408's and a few 422's. The 422's are seeing around 450rwhp and "

apparently i am not the one that needs to lay off the crack

QUOTE THIS
"FYI, they don't do the 422's anymore but this is what came from them when they did!

1999 Corvette Hardtop, 6-speed Manual from Austin Texas. Mods: MTI Re-sleeved Aluminum 422ci stroker, MTI stage 3 LS6 heads, MTI custom solid roller camshaft, TNT 220hp nitrous system

SAE Dynojet: 550rwhp / 470 ft-lbs on motor, 770 rwhp on Nitrous.

And here a link so you can see some more with your own eyes!"

Now show me a 383 that's making 600fwhp....

Sometimes threads get a bit hijacked, and it is better than if it had not

Thanks for all the info guys, I have all but ruled out the deal on the car since I do need it for daily driver reliability for another year or two and nobody seems to know the true history of the car very well. In the end, I don't have the spare cash to rebuild the engine if it is in bad shape anytime soon, and honestly don't need the power since I promised the wife no taking it to the track until it isn't a daily driver, so I'll just hang on to my stock 02 and modify it myself down the line.
