gas tank removal

well do to an unfortunate amp mounting incident, the shop that installed my system drilled a small hole in my tank and now i have to replace it. how hard is it to remove it on an 04. thanks.

For a GM master tech with a lift and tools and all that jazz, you are looking at about 8 hours total labor.

I have an 04 and it had a leaky drivers side tank, and it was replaced under warrenty.

MAJOR pain in the back side.

the whole drive train has to be removed...... It's unreal. When they were 1/2 thru with my car, I stopped at the dealer to have a look see.

That brings up another question.... Is the fuel pump located in the tank? If so is it a major pain to change?

Late 2003-2004 are totally different (FFS tanks used on C6). Drivetrain has to come out. Not fun. Now if i can find the engineer that designed this I would have him do the work.

You can find more info on the redesigned FFS fuel system at the following link. One tip on Removing Fuel Tanks at the following link says, "Once you have performed this procedure, you will gain enough knowledge of the components that you may be able to do the procedure in the future without lowering the driveline." But for us that don't do this for a living everyday, plan on lowering the driveline. Good luck with the fix.
