Default Brake fluid flush

I wondering if a good idea to flush brake fluid and replace with new. I know that Lexus and BMW does this service. But I didn't know if its good for me.

Yea it is good to flush the old fluid out every 2 years or when you replace your brakes.

I use the Syn Power valvoline brake fluid. Exceds Dot4 specs but is pretty cheap and easy to find unlike others.
Should be able to find it at any Advance, autozone, etc...

http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=51

SynPower High Performance Synthetic Brake Fluid is recommended for ABS, hydraulic drum and disc braking systems and hydraulic clutches requiring DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids. Its premium, synthetic, low-moisture formulation provides superior anti-vapor lock protection. It has a high dry-boiling point up to 500°F that reduces the risk of fluid vaporization and possible brake failure.

Exceeds DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications
For most ABS, disc or drum brake systems
High boiling point reduces risk of brake failure
Compatible with conventional brake fluids

I just use a turkey baster and suck out all I can from the tank and refill with the Syn Power power steering fluid when i do the brakes.

Mind you my old beater 87 buick has never had the fluid changed. Of course I don;t drive it like a vette so that might help as well. That and it came with a steering cooler.

Do you have an air compressor? if so then you can buy a tool from MightyVac the mv3860 that will suck all your brake fluid out and any other nasty fluid you can find. Mine has paid for itself in one day, shops get from $75 and up to flush brakes , I paid like $100 shipped and did my car, truck, and bike in the same afternoon.

This is the best product I've found for bleeding brakes:

http://www.motiveproducts.com/02bleeders.html

It pressurizes the master cylinder; after you get it properly hooked up and pumped to 10-15 psi, all you have to do is go around the car and bleed each wheel cylinder one at a time. As others have noted make sure to remove all the old fluid from the master cylinder before installing the tool, as that's where most of the moisture will have accumulated. The whole job takes less than 30 minutes and no assistant is required to pump the brake pedal. The company also makes adapters which allow you to use the tool on a variety of cars.

I have an '85 6-series BMW and the owners manual recommends flushing the system every YEAR which seems pretty excessive. Presumably it's to prolong the life of the ABS pump by keeping the system free of moisture. (The cost of a new pump: about $1500!!!)
Since I only drive the car about 2-3K miles/year and even then only in fair weather, I extend that interval to about every two years.
