looking to replace my clutch. Would prefer pedal pressure as close to stock as possible but I am putting 443 hp to the rear wheels and occasionally go racing. I want the best of both worlds, enough pressure to handle to hp and pleasant driving on the street. Has anyone installed either a Luk Pro Gold or the new LS7 Z06 clutch?
Installed LS7 clutch on Friday. Pedal is really close to stock, at most 5-10% harder, but I really can't tell a difference. I used the LS2 flywheel, LS7 disc and PP, and a 04 Z06 slave. Install was pretty easy except had to loosen the bell housing a bit to get it in there.
There is zero chatter with this. My stock clutch had a hint of chatter sometimes, but this is velvet smooth. And it seems to grip good, though I haven't hit it yet as I'm breaking in a set of 4.10's too.
Price is right, $625 for everything shipped to my door from Gene at Fred Beans.
Comes zero balanced, so you can just bolt it on.
In hindsight, I might have used a lighter flywheel like a Fidenza, the stock stuff is ~50 lbs.
Although most aftermarket clutches out there will be good enough to support your horsepower rating, the top of the line ones, have some firmness on the clutch pedal. At least the ones I've had -Mcleod Twin Disc, and Spec Stage IV- you'll get used to the feel, and eventually, you'll develop a great foot-pedal connection. My launches are more consistent at the track.
