Default Oil Gage Issue

Just bought a C5 ('99) last month (lovin' it!) and have recently developed a problem with the oil gage... It suddenly maxxed out and the sensor read 130 psi and now seems to be stuck there. The oil temp seems to be fine... Is it likely to be the sending unit or am I looking at a more major fix? Should I continue driving it or fix it asap?

Thanks for any help you all might have!

Jeannie

Default oil pressure sender.

You need a new sender, It happens to almost all 98's and 99's. sender and gaskets cost about $70.00. If you take it to the shop it will be about $200 to $300. Don't use an AC Delco sender. After that you can plan on gas guage problems, fob problems, door lock problems, electric window problems, Differential seal problems and ground problems.

So there are other brands of sending units? Which is the best and where can I find them. I always thought that you had to use the dealersbrand on this paticular part.

Default Oil pressure sender

I don't know how many other brands there are. I know you can order them from any auto parts store. I used a Standard Motor Products unit that I ordered from Rockauto .com. Part # ps308. I am not sure how long it will last. I posted a thread and asked if anyone had failures with the ps308 and no one responded with failures. According to other threads on this subject, a lot of people have used ACDelco senders and had repeated failures.
