Help! Throttle response problems on stock 02 Z06
I recently bought a stock 02 Z06 with 22k miles on it. The previous owner was a friend of mine, and I know that the car was babied and properly maintained.
However, since getting the car there has been a slight throttle response delay that has been really bothering me. It feels like when I get on or let off the throttle there is a very very slight delay before the car responds. This really hurts the "oneness" feeling of the car and makes it less intuitive to control a slide.
At first I chalked this up to the drive-by-wire system as a very disappointing characteristic of the Z06, but then I drove a friend's car which was nearly identical to mine--same year, mileage, etc. His car has instantaneous throttle response just like every other sports car I've owned. I let him drive my car and he agreed, my car felt a lot slower in response to the throttle.
What could be causing my car to do this?
