Default Keyless entry not working...? now what?

Went into the store for a few things and the locks worked fine...came out and hit the "unlock" and nothing??? Had to use the key (oh the horror) figured the battery died in the remote- so I got a new one from Chevy and it still is not working??? What and how do I troubleshoot further? the parts guy said the remote needed nothing else to be done after a battery change. Is there something I need to do to have the system remember the remote? Reprogram? bad fuse? or a Gremlin!

Thanks!

Can you read dude? It says keyless remote not working...says nothing about an actuator...I have been here a while, I used the search and found nothing about "trouble shooting a FOB" issue....

Did you try your other fob. If it was in the battery of the first one, the second should still work.

If it was just the battery, then you need to synchronize the remote again. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time until the horn honks.

Only have 1 remote- I am in the process of moving so I dug out my service manual and found the relearn process...the manual says you have to have the ignition turned to "on" then press the buttons...got it going again! but had to dig thru several boxes til I could find the books!
