Z06 performance
thanks for the opinions
All kidding aside. . . . think "head and cam package", long tube headers, free flowing exhaust, e.g., Stinger's Exhaust System (or something like that), at least a LS6 Intake and Throttle Body , and a real good Dyno tuning. You might want to think about new gears as well ~ 3:42's at least. That's should put you in the competition
I have a 1999 C5 Coupe, 6 speed myself. For me a 2004 (405 hp), LS6 create engine swap was the cheapest way to go and get the biggest bang for my buck.
The real reason for doing the swap is ~ my old LS1 engine died. To rebuild it would cost more than the new LS6 engine, so the decision was easy. Oh, I forgot to mention I currently live and work in Germany ~ parts, labor alone would have run me around $10K for the rebuild of my old LS1 engine over here. I'm faced with 19% tax on everything, all parts have to be imported, and guess who gets to pay for all that. . . that's right, me. So, I ordered a new 2004 LS6 Create engine and had it shipped to Germany myself. The cost is still steep, but not as steep as it would have been if had ordered it through the Gemany GM/OPEL dealerships.
OK, good luck on your MODs. . . . whatever they are

1. Power, you are going to need a cam to get 55 HP, actually you will need about 70 more HP to compensate for the weight.
2. Tires, ditch the runflats, Z06 sizes will fit on your stock wheel. Your wheels are just as light as a Z06 wheel, just your runflats are heavy.
3. Springs, sway bars, and shocks, Upgrade the hardware at this point also.
4. If you have a M6 that is good enough, an A4 will need gearing and TC improvements. Unless you have a distinct HP advantage an A4 is not going to take a Z06 on the track, dragstrip is a different ball game.
5. Frame stiffness, not that different but you can always mount a good roll bar system and stiffen up your frame some.
6. Brakes, just upgrade to Z06 hardware.
That should put you there.
