Default C5 ZO6 guy that needs opinions on the LS7 clutch

Like the topic says, I have an 02 Z with the factory clutch, its very lightly modded with LG longtubes, blackwing and dyno tuning, at the track it seems that the stock clutch isnt quite up to the task of aggresive launches and hard/fast shifting. With the added HP of the LS7 I feel if you guys have no complaints about the clutch in your cars it will certainly live in my car, Im looking for feedback concerning launching aggresively and then powershifting the car down the track. Does the clutch maintain good clamping force on every shift after an extremely hard launch?? And have you hotlapped the car without compromising clutch performance??

Thanks in advance

Mike

Can't answer you ... mine hasn't arrived yet.

But, the LS7 clutch will fit older Z's ... with some minor alterations.

Some top mechanics have examined the new clutch ... and claim it is the real deal ... good for up to 600 HP.

I'm also considering this clutch because I'm not crazy about the other available options.

MVR 155, I would think that with your mild mods, the C6 Z06 clutch would be more than sufficient to keep up with your demands. You definitely aren't making any more than 400 rwhp with your mods, and if you intend to leave your car in it's current state, I would think the C6 Z06 clutch is the way to go.

I, myself, am getting a 224/228 cam to keep the street manners nearly stock. I expect to be in the 400-410 rwhp range; however, my plans do include a set of heads and spray, so I'm not sure the C6 Z06 clutch will be up to the task.

Can anyone else chime in who has experience with the C6 Z06 clutch and is making over 500 rwhp? I don't think it really matters whether it is in a C6 Z06 or a C5 Z06 as the weight of the cars is very similar.

Default Rear caliper bracket bolts

I removed my rear caliper brackets to adjust the emergency brakes. My manual says to discard the mounting bolts, but my local Chevrolet stealers do not have any in stock. Can I clean the locktite off the bolts and reuse or should the bolts be replaced? Where can I purchase these bolts online if they need to be replaced? Thanks

You can reuse them. Put the red loctite back on them and tighten them to 125 Lbs Ft. Yeah the 125 is serious. from the 02 shop manual.
