I was at Good Guys Show in Charlotte and saw a pinion adapter that gets ride of the transmission and allowed a standard drive shaft to mount to the C5 differential. For the life of me I can't find the business card I picked up. Does anyone know who makes one? I've been going crazy trying to find that card and remember who the company was. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
This would allow a front mounted trans in a C5. I am very interested in the source and cost of such a device... Would be great for a T400 drag trans installation or a front mounted T56... It would also make trans and clutch service/removal much easier and would save some weight (driveshaft vs torque tube). The only drawback would be a forward shift of the transmission weight. This mod would require addition of a cross member to support the rear of the front mounted transmission.

Finally found it! http://www.21stcenturystreetmachines.com/ has the adapter, its made for older camaro's and firebird's. It is still in its early stages so they don't have pitures up yet. It has an alluminume front adapter plate that ties into their subframe and custom front yoke to adapt a standard driveshaft to the c5 differential. I'm curious to see if it will be able to be adapted to other installs.

How much smaller is a 700? If it's close to the size of a 400, be prepared to hack up your car.

I was wondering the same thing. The floor pan is not very expansive in the normal bellhousing area (directly behind the engine block) since the tranny is normally in the rear on the C5.
I can't imagine anyone doing this in a C5! The only reason I could think you would want the trans in the front would be for drag racing. The trans weight up front would be good for drag racing, but if you went to all the trouble to cut half the car up to make a trans fit up front why would you keep the weak C5 rear diff? Put a real diff in if your going to that much trouble! My guess is a 9" Ford will transfer 20 times more torque and cost 1/4 the price of a C5 diff.
Now on the other hand the adapter sounds really cool for street rods where you can easily run a hi-tech C5 rear suspension under a street rod.

The link is gone. Any other ideas where this item might be at?
