Default Service Engine Light On-help?

Hey guys, I just put the CAGS eliminator on my 98' and the service engine light came on when I started it. Is this normal? Can I reset it somehow? Appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'll have to get back under and check that. Isn't the CAGS switch in the middle of the tranny on the driver's side? The skip shift doesn't work anymore, so it seems like I got the right thing. Thanks though.

You may have overlooked the advice given above. You can check your error codes which are resulting in the "Check Engine" light by doing the self diagnostic reading. You can get a listing of the codes on the Tech Tips page. You can read the codes by doing the following:
(1) Turn key in ignition to on without starting up,
(2) Push the Options key, and hold it in while you push the Fuel button 4 times,
(3) The self diagnostics will then run thru the codes in each module,
(4) When it's done going thru it, you can page thru each module and see each code by pushing the Gages and Trip buttons,
(5) Take note and write down what all the codes are,
(6) Reset the codes by pushing in the Reset button for each module.

If you aren't sure what the codes are or waht they mean after comparing what you got to the listing of codes, just post your codes on the Forum, and I'm sure someone will chime in quick to let you know if you have a serious problem or a no-never-mind.

I've zeroed out the codes on mine a bunch of times since none of the issues were serious "got to get it fixed due to a real problem" kind of things. Good luck!
