Will lowering your vette change the center of gravity and if so for better or worse and is it more for looks or preformance I fiigure it was designed that way for a reson why change it.

It's for looks more often than not. It does slightly lower the center of gravity, however unless your an expert driver you won't notice the difference or be able to utilize it.

Changed the livin' crap out of my car. Thats what makes it my car.
Anybody ever watched to video that tells how to adjust it? It should probably also say why you would want to (in GM's opinion).
In the Z06 owners video it says lowering for track use. But I'll bet more people lower for looks than function. Regardless of your reason just make sure you you keep the natural rake of 1/2-3/4 higher in the rear. Do get an alignment after about a week when the suspension has finished settling.
Mine is lowered on the stock bolts for track use but it does also look better.
looks here. Tried longer bolts, and it was too low. The car launched at the track a bit better with a west coast stance, but lower. Back to stock bolts, 4 threads on each as all the way was still to low. Too easy to do at the house, well the rear is for sure, and it does look much better.

Keep in mind GM has to make sacrifices. They have to make it so the average driver can get in and out of extreme angled driveways etc..
Theres better intakes and exhaust systems too, once again,GM has to comprimise, goverment noise restrictions, etc.Just because the c5 came a certain way, doesn't mean GM couldn't make it better.
Dr. Erik Strelnieks, SCCA SS autocros champion several times, recommended I lower my ZO6 to setup for autocross. I'm doiong it this weekend and then following up with a cusotm alignment.
I don't know how much difference this will make, but it is hard to argue with the advice of success!
Most people lower the car for looks and quite honestly, it is simple to do, but also simple to screw up the handling of the car if you really drive it hard on the street.
Regardless how much you lower it, keep in mind GM factored in a certain amount of rake front to rear to maintain the aerodynamic handling of the car. You can really jack up the handling of a C5 by not following the guidelines in the shop manual on the rake.
