If You Recently Bought Kooks Headers
Five weeks after I place my order I finally get my headers.
During the install I had to remove the steering linkage, starter, coil packs, valve covers, etc. which is no big deal.
I had to loosen the motor mounts and jack the motor up, one side at the time, to get the headers to fit. The driver’s side required that a 2x3 be used to move the motor over about 1/2 in addition to being jacked all the way up. This isn’t really that big of a deal but is not really something that I enjoy doing for a header install.
Once I get everything almost back in order I find out that the holes drilled on the flange does not bolt up to the motor. I had to undo all of the stuff I had put on and then jack up the motor on each side to remove the headers. I then test fitted the stock manifold holes up against the kooks only to find out that TWO of the holes did not line up. I had to widen the holes on the flange on my new headers that I just paid big $$$ for. Stainless steel is not easy to drill through I might add.
If you have recently bought kooks I would HIGHLY recommend that you test fit the headers before installing them instead of assuming like I did that they would fit. I realize that they make them im batches so I can only assume they will all be the same. I will be calling Kooks to have some words with them in the morning.
I’m not trying to start a flame war, just trying to help out fellow cf members not make the same mistake I did.
