I posed this question before but I want to ask in a different way. My car was bought wrecked. It was smacked pretty hard in the front. First of all, it is a 2000 model vert with separate maf and air temp sensors. Now then, the maf plug was ripped from the main wiring harness and the sensor was destroyed. I have since bought a "new" front clip.....I think it was from a 2002. I now have the bigger maf with the temp sensor built in along with the bigger airbox, air bridge, etc. Someone already told me I could buy a "pigtail" from gm to adapt the new sensor over to my harness but I'm a 12-volt technician by trade and it would be simple for me to "hard wire" the new 5-wire harness (which I already have) into my existing harness. Is this the same thing as putting the pigtail adapter on or is it possible to do this without the added expense of ordering a pigtail converter?
Sure you can do it but the PCM engine control will be very confused because of the MAF calibration. The only way to fix that is to have the car retuned to reflect the newer MAF. Sorry

You have a choice of just wiring in the 3 wires used on the older 75 mm MAF and leaving the intake air temp sensor in the airbridge or move the 2 wires IAT had and include it to the 5 wire connector for the 85 mm MAF.
I've got the plug-an-play adapter to convert the old wiring to the new 85MM MAF's if you need and I'll sell for cheap. Email me at: dtsngit@bellsouth.net.
