Dead Battery..relay making tapping noise...help please.
I hooked up the charger and from lower front end ahead of radiator is a tapping noise......2 taps per second frequency. Ingnition in OFF posistion. Tried 2,10 and 50 amp to force close the relay. no luck.
Do I keep the charger on with tap occuring?
All help appreciated.

Wife's Jeep did the same thing recently. Relay would cycle about twice a second. Car would not run with the battery connected, even when I jumped it off. Disconnected the battery and jumped it off, and it ran fine. Took it to AutoZone with the battery disconnected, pulled the old battery out, installed the new battery, all with the engine still running. Some people looked at me like I was crazy, wondering how the car was running without the battery. Turned out the battery had a shorted cell.
