Squeeky Brakes, why god why?
Ever since I got my car a week ago the brakes have squeeked. Not like grinding train wreck but enough to annoy me so I figured i'd change the pads. Well, I get her off the ground, pull the wheels and the pads all the way around look like they're nearly breand new. They arent anywhere near the squeekers. So, what do you guys think the issue is? They only squeek when about medium force is applied. And by that i guess i mean about the force thats required in most stopping situations. Last night on the way home I did a few of those hard break-in stops on my street and then pulled into the driveway. Maybe they just werent broken in properly when installed?
Thanks Guys
Shane
Go to your favorite auto parts store and get some brake caliper lube (anti sieze can work as well). Put a thin coat on the slide surfaces of the brake caliper brackets. You might put a thin (emphasize *thin*) coating on the corresponding slides of the brake pad backing plates. Just make sure you don't put so much that it could build up and contaminate the rotors/pads themselves.
HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
