just read that issue today. I think Hot Rod is a good mag, with accurate info. Understand the motor was on an engine dyno, and to get those improvement is at the high end of believable.

I might do the Fast intake on my car sometime.

w/ stock heads? maybe it was based on a ls6 w/ 243 heads? maybe they count the rotating assembly as a bolt on

I read that they took off the LS6 intake & based the motor with the older LS1 intake & LT headers. Then they installed the FAST intake & TB & claimed a big gain. A real test when have also been basing it with the LS6 intake also. I can't belive they would have picked up over 10hp that way. But otherwise the article made me resubscribe for another year It's good to see some real test buid up's on something besides the old "Toilet" [ carb ] motors

They did a fast 78/78 with 85mm MAF
dynatechs
cam COMP XE-R XER281HR 613/616 232/234
stage 4 ported ls6 heads
k&n cone filter

they also put in an adjustable fuel pres regulator so they didnt have to use the ECU to change A/F

ok, so the first post is invalid about the bolt-ons, this sounds more realistic w/ cam/heads, there are a bunch of cars putting down 450 rearwheel w/ this combo, *1.15 for drivetrain loss and there's the 517 or so on the stand
