OBDII nightmare
I went to re-register my car. The car has been sitting and the plates & inspection expired a while ago on the 96 GS. Car had continuous insurance coverage. I go to the inspection station and they issue a temporary inspection that said all passes except emissions. Figure I have ten days to drive it with the temp inspection and reset the computer to make it "test ready" as they call it. Turns out no deal their computer said it fail and temp is NG. Then I said how do I ready the computer if I have no plates and can't drive it? She tells me it's my problem tell the inspection station to put dealer plates on it and have them drive it I told her they don't have dealer plates and what dealer would want me riding around with their plates for two days. You have to drive the car a cycle what ever that is on two different days No plates makes it hard to do.
I then call Albany (NY headquarters NY DMV) my options are run it on the roller dyno for 30 minutes if that is enough for two days.
Second option is turn in the plates and re-register it then they will give me a temporary inspection for tens day.
Now I end up with the same thing a temporary inspection permit by creating more work and getting new plates for the same 72.50 What jerks they are.
