Default help w/ HUD oil gauge...

On the C5 (1999) there is a page button on the left side of the drivers steering wheel. You can display on the HUD: oil pressure, temp gauge, and fuel level.

When the ignition is on, the HUD defaults to fuel level. For some reason, it sometimes defaults to oil pressure level (the oil can symbol displays). Now this doesn't happen everytime and I always reset to fuel level...but it started happening a few weeks ago.

I just got an oil change and the shop didn't fix it though I mentioned it. I assume its some glitch in the computer system.

Any advice on whats happening or how to fix this?

Thanks!!!

I've had this happen occasionally usually after the car sits for a long while (over a week) and after disconnecting the battery.

Try reseting your memory with the page you want on the HUD.

Same exact thing happened to me. I needed a new battery. New battery cleared up the problem.

Interesting, The dealer said the battery was fine. (I haven't had any problems with it...even in the Chgo cold)

I don't see how to change the memory...I looked in the OM and nothing was mentioned about "saving" info in the HUD.

Any further advice?

Thanks

I mean the memory button on the door that saves seat position, hvac setting, steering wheel position, radio stations, etc., for two different drivers......I don't know if this was an option so you may or may not have it.

Yes, I have that...and didn't see where that sets the info on the HUD.

On mine it sets the seat, steering wheel, and mirrors.

Can you explain how you used the memory to set the HUD?
Thanks

Also, its not always the same thing that displays. This morning it was the oil, yesterday afternoon it was the fuel. So its not set on one display.

PS The only thing that I was able to do to make changes to the HUD was hit the page button.

Yes seat, steer wheel and mirrors and it may save the HUD page you select, i.e., fuel gage, when you reset your memory. I'm not completely sure but I no longer have this issue. Then again I did replace my battery a few months ago, so..........
