does anyone know the right part number or where to get these? The guys are autozone and kragen are helpless when it comes to this. Also, i've heard to use F-body gaskets because they're round rather than rectangular like ours? Do you know hat year F body?
the f-body deal is urban legend, all c5's use round ex. gaskets 97-00 vs. 01-04 w/ oval ports(ls6 or ls1 both oval)
dynatech's-use supplied metal gaskets
kooks-throw away the paper ones, use the stock gaskets
in most cases the reuse of stock gaskets is fine
Muffler shop that installed my long tubes used the old metal ones over. Said he had never had a leak using the old metal ones and had a few come backs with the soft composition ones that came with my headers. Its been 3000 miles and no leaks.
Everyone and his brother reuses the stock metal gaskets, that includes B&B, and many of the shops on this site.If they look ok , which they will, use them..
well, I reused the metal gaskets, they worked great, just like I figured they would when I pulled the manifold and saw what the gasket looked like. Those longtubes sure added alot of power
Normally yes, LS6 gaskets are reusable. BUT, you should not use them with long tube headers! The LS6 used oval port gaskets and older LS1 used round port gaskets. The LS6 style oval port gasket will not always seal good on headers. Simply order gaskets for a 99 C5 coupe and you will get the correct round port gasket.
Note: GM changed the gasket style because they changed the manifolds, the ports in the heads are the same, so either gasket will work with any heads. It's the fact that all headers have round ports is why you want the older round port gasket.
Got mine from Advanced auto parts..I just ordered the round f body ones but the 99 and older vette gaskest are also round..On my 2004 the stock gaskets were oval and would not seal the headers..
