HELP!!! auto tranny
I have a 98 c5 with 75k miles auto tranny. I have no 3rd or overdrive. I can manuely shift from 1st 2nd 3rd Overdrive. but I can not start off by Going into overdrive or 3rd. And when I manuely shift up to 3 or overdrive i i excellerate to much it like it pops out of gear. a loud bang out of the rear. and goes into nuetral. I am very confuesed. any help ????? Please.

How have the temps of the tranny been? Heat kills them...has it been run hard in its 75K life? Drag raccing, burn outs etc...also are you making stock HP or have you introduced more HP then it was rated for? A lot of these factors come in to play with the A4...I have 70K on my A4 in my 97 and it still runs strong...but I have not given it any reason not too... (YET!)
if its making a banging noise, it does not sound good...slipping is one thing, but loud noises from it are not a good indication...
Talk to Crashed94 (forum member) he has several levels of tranny's built to take what ever you throw at it...I will go this route when I do my head and cam install...
