Default Exhaust Question

I am going to buy a set of 4-tip Borla Stingers for a 2000 Corvette and take them to a shop to get them installed. Around how much does it usually cost to install a setup like this? Just dont want to get screwed, because I am rather new at this. Thanks

Also, the cheapest price I have seen on the net is around $760 shipped, anyone know where to get them cheaper?

i'm sure you could find a better deal on this board or any other 'vette forum if you look around, or ebay.

as for the install, dont know how much it cost but its a straight forward install if you want to try it. pretty basic.

Biggest trick is getting the old exhaust pipes out without cutting them. Since they aren't worth much, I'd cut them and then toss 'em.

Install could run antwhere from $60 to $125. Depends on your area, an exhaust shop, dealer, mechanic, etc. Don't pay over $125 unless you absolutley can not work a ratchet.

I paid $710.00 (pick up) and $75.00 install.

Don' try to remove your old exhaust unless you have a lift. Because its REALLY hard to get the vette 30" off the ground.

I kept my old exhaust just in case when or if I resell the vette. If its to the dealer the old exhaust goes back on (sell the Stingers on ebay), if to an enthusiast the exhaust stays, my choice.

I've done 2 or 3 exhausts on c5s without using a lift...I cut my old muffler off, others we saved without cutting. I'd say if you have a low profile jack, some jack stands, can turn a bolt and have a few hours free on a Saturday afternoon, you can install an exhaust. It truely is one of the easiest mods to do. Good luck!

go to your region forum and see if someone will help you or has access to a lift that you can use for a few hrs. It doesnt hurt to ask.

I paid 100 for a cat back install. I think 760 is a pretty descent deal shipped. Not sure you will find a better deal, unless of course you decide to go with the magnaflow magnapack instead.

I found a used 4-tip stinger here on the forums for $500 in pristine shape. Seller was local and met me half way. Can't ask for better people then vette owners. Shop near me charges either 1 hour or 2. Cant remember. But I think 2 hours labor is a little steep seeing as how it seriously only takes 15 minutes once the car was on the lift. It must be one of the easiest things ive ever seen.

When I installed my Indys, I raised my rear as high as I could. Supported with jack stands and then cut the stock junk off with a sawz-all. The install was easy. I prefer to do it my self to assure that it's performed correctly and I don't have to go back for any adjustments.

If you are mechanically inclined you should have no problems. Be sure to think safety first. Jack stands and safety glasses, etc...
