Need opinion on what's causing two codes I'm getting
P0200 - Injector Control Circuit
P0804 - Skip Shift Lamp Control Circuit
Here are some details. Any help would be appreciated.
This is the important one:
P0200
Today, driving home I noticed that the car "sputtered" a little under moderate acceleration on the highway. The harder the acceleration the more it sputtered. I recently had headers installed and have been getting the P0410 code but didn't consider it a problem and it wouldn't be my first guess to say that it is related to my problem today.
To me it felt more like a cylinder was misfiring. My first thought was that the excess heat has melted through a plug wire (I replaced them all at the time I did the headers with OEM GM wires) but I noticed that they are mighty close to the primaries. I haven't had a chance to look because it was dark when it happened. I will look in the morning.
I also read that a loose connection at the injectors might throw this code. The funny thing is that I started babying it at that point until I could get home and I didn't reset the code but it went away on it's own...It doesn't show P0200 H C anymore...it now only shows "Historical".
Any ideas?
Unless directly related this one I think is much less significant that the one above but I could sure use the help if it's familiar to you.
P0804:
For a while now the "Shift 1 to 4" light has been intermittently coming on when it's not supposed to. Sometimes it comes on when I'm cruising and sometimes it just blinks on and off sporadically. I noticed this starting a short while after I had my alarm put in Clifford G750 with Blackjacks (They used the tach to let the alarm's blackjack sensor monitor the RPM)...For those of you who may have the previous model it was called "Intelliguard" on previous Clifford alarms. I always thought this might have something to do with it but I never really bothered too much with it cause it wasn't causing me a problem. But I just thought it was curious that now it pops up and maybe someone can tell me if there is a way I can remedy this.
Thanks,
Mike
Sorry, but I can't help with the P0804 troubleshooting. I found the code definition, but it doesn't tell you anything that you don't already know:
P0804 - 1-4 Upshift (Skip Shift) Lamp Control Circuit Malfunction
Maybe a CAGS bypass would help?
I took a look at the wires and they are all in Pristine condition (at least on the outside)...no hit of even any kind of heat stress....
Next is the injector harness. I don't want to go messing where I don't know so if you have any cautionary info or best practices on doing this I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks,
Mike
It was the driver's side fuel injector wiring harness. It had chafed through and was grounding out. There's a bracket at the back of the driver's side head that it rubs and chafes on. Apparently it's a known problem. The tech covered the bracket with rubber hose and re-wrapped the harness and all has been perfect ever since.
Chek that, I'd bet it's the source of your problem.
