Default uderdrive pully question

Ok. I don't know a lot about what it does or how it works, but I gather from other comments and posts that it can increase power output. Can someone enlighten me.

How hard of a job is it to change?
I assume a different belt is needed (anything else other than the pulley and belt)?
What can you expect as to increase HP output at the wheels?
Does the car need to be re-tuned for this modification?
Is the car good for daily driving with a different pulley or does it need to be changed back for driving other than at the track?

Thanks very much for the info

Almost the same as doing a cam - big job. steering rack removed, radiator, et al.

Belts usually come with pulley - shorter than stock, yes.

8-10rwhp at best

No. No tuning is needed.

No. You can daily drive it with a UD pulley.

Whoa there

There is no comparrison of a cam change to the UD pulley. I did all my own work and that included the pulley on its own and changing cams.

For the pulley, you only move the steering rack to the passenger side but not out of the car and the Air cleaner/airbridge so you have access to moving a huge tq wrench/breaker bar. Radiator DOES NOT come out. 3 hours at best

The cam change adds:

fans
radiator
water pump
timing cover
oil pump unless you trust the dots lining up without a good view
coil packs
valve covers
rocker arms
pushrods
something to hold up the lifters or prayer
plugs/wires
TB recommended for access
Valve springs if you have the stock ones still in there

15 hours (add 2 hours for springs)... If that looks like the same size job to you....

Good luck with a tight pulley bolt with the water pump, cooling fans and radiator in the way. Also, good luck if you have a tight pully that requires better access to extract.

By all means assume it is a simple job, until you run into unforeseen issues. A cam install is not a big deal and the vast majority of time is spent getting stuff out of the way to get at the cam. It's a 7 hour job if you are organised.

Let's put it this way, yes, it's still a big job, no, it's not nearly as big a job as doing a cam.

If you ever plan to do a cam, do it then.
