PCM damage
I've been reading quite a bit on this forum about batteries that start leaking acid spontaneously all over everything, so I thought I'd have a look at mine. The previous owner had he original battery replaced after one year. I bet I know why! The entire top of the computer was covered with that white fluffy battery acid stuff. It had eaten into it pretty deep. I had to take it apart and glass-bead the case to get the corrosion off. Strangely, there's not even a speck of damage anywhere else around the PCM. Still, if I were you, I'd pop the access hatch off and take a peek at yours!
