Did you run over a plastic bag? It may be melted to your exhaust. Take it to the dealer. It wouldent hurt. Just have them look it over anyway since your warranty is going to be up soon. It might just need to be driven more , JK mine gets 20k mi a year

Under warranty get it in to be looked at. Burning smell could be oil coming from Oil sending unit rolling down the back of your motor down your bell housing onto your Catalytic Converters. But if its under warranty don't wait get it in now! Good Luck.

Could it be clutch or brake related?

Oh my....can you give us any better clues? Any unusual noises? fluid leaks under your car? functions that do not work anymore? any error codes, messages or warning lamps? Does it smell inside the cabin, engine bay or generally everywhere? Are you driving any particular way when it happens? Here's a few ideas to think about:
1. Does it smell like burning oil? Check for oil leaks in and around your headers.
2. Does it smell like hot electrical smell? Could be serious. Inspect for anything that has stopped working, blown fuses, etc.
3. Does it smell like melted plastic? Check wiring harnesses near your headers. Spark plug wires, O2 sensors, etc. Check your mufflers and pipe tips near your rear facia. Check for plastic bags melted onto your pipes.
3. Does it smell like burning brakes? Check your brakes. Check your eBrake.
4. Does it smell like burning rubber? Check your serpentine belt. Stop burning tires at the stop lights.
5. Does it smell like hot exhaust fumes? Check for exhaust leaks. Sometimes cats going bad will smell also.
6. Does it smell worse than hot brakes? Check your clutch. Check your clutch master cylinder for leaks and low fluid.
7. Does it smell worse than anything you ever smelled before? Check your pants!

Had the same problem. Checked the usual suspects, never found it and it stopped. It didn't seem related to any particular driving habit, like braking, acceleration (clutch&trans), or tires. Still a mystery. Good luck. I'd be interested if you come up with something.
