I would add that you will want to place a clean towel/rag over the opening as soon as possible after removal to prevent anything from getting/blowing into the intake opening! Might save you trouble down the road.

Dont put them back on just connect them together, will make it that much easier next time and prevents hot antifreeze from running through your TB

Just connect the two lines with a metal tube and a worm clamp on each end. Driven my car for years in cold and warm weather and never noticed anything different with this mod, "bad that is". Cooler air is better air.
