Here is what I did with my Mustang ( I also have a 2000 Vette):
It is a 4 step process. All 4 steps must be met in order for nitrous to flow.
1. Turn on a master switch.
2. RPM must be above 3000 and below 6000. You set this via "pills".
3. Fuel pressure must be above 25 pounds (you set this).
4. Throttle must be wide open. WOT switch.
If any of the above conditions are not met the nitrous will not flow. I have not had any problems with this setup.
I have also vented the nitrous bottle outside the car in case the safety cap blows.
I believe the informed people know that nitrous can be safe. You can find many forum members running nitrous for years with no problems. I was very afraid when I first started running mine but now am very confident of the ability of the engine to take a lot. At the etown show and go I was running 100 shot wet and shifted from 3rd to 2nd  at the drags. No problems altough my adreniline level hit redline.
I however would not recomend running 125 shot dry. From what I have read 125 is really pushing a dry shot. If you dont have a nitrous system yet I would get a wet system to run over 100shot or only run 100 shot on a dry system. Nitrous just kicks a$$ . Jeff
I've been looking into nitrous since I got my vette in May. I must have read a 100 posts, posted another 100, and talked with everyone I could find at the install shops. Everyone has recommended a wet shot system, and the majority recommended the NX Express kit. Just my .02
