C5 Stock Auto Max Hp?

I have a buddy who is interested in installing a set of AFR 205cc heads and possibly cam on his 03 C5 auto. His car is a daily driver and his goal is 400 rwhp. Does the stock auto require any upgrades to support 400 rwhp and live a long and happy life?

Keep in mind that the stock tranny is very weak! It is not done to support much more than the stock power! However my buddy has a supercharged C5 auto with 40000 miles and about 450 RWHP, he seriously beats the crap out of the car. He has done about 2000 miles on the stock auto tranny and it is still running like new. I guess it depends on how lucky you are.

I heard about some guys who broke their trannies after a few days with heads and cam. I also have a SC on my C5 auto, I enjoy spirited driving from time to time and the tranny runs flowlessly. However I have a brand new 4L60 E level 5 from Rodney at RPM Transmissions. He is a supporting vendor. I strongly advise your friend to go with him. He is a great guy to deal with. He built my tranny in no time (even If I have not used it yet, I like to know that it is here if I need it
