Is it the TAC Module in the early C5's that causes "limp home mode" to occur under moderate to heavy acceleration? I was out today and I gave it a little gas to pass someone and all of a sudden...bells go off and I am in reduced engine power mode...along with service traction control as well as the check engine light...I remember a while back someone saying these symptoms were related to the TAC module and that not many of the early C5's still had the original unit.
Appreciate the info...I have not checked the codes yet-
Your memory is correct.
The TAC Module is located right next to the PCM.
There are some who have experienced these same symptoms one time only and others where it happens periodically.
Some change it out right away others wait to see if it happens again.
It's your choice.
It's a little scary when it happens isn't it?
This just happened to me for the first time (in 5 years with the car) yesterday! After limping home I cleared the codes and it drives just like it did before, no problem. I guess I'll see if it's gonna reoccur.

this makes it the 2nd time in about 6 months...so that's enough for me...scared the crap out of me on the highway in the fast lane!
