What a freakin pain in the *** this was. I want to thank everyone that puts posts on here, because I got a lot of good instruction on how to pull the manifold off to swap that valve out. Especially Vectorz who had an awesome post( which I cant find again for some reason but I saved as a word doc, so If anyone needs it email me and I will shoot it to you ) with a ton of pictures about replacing the oil pressure sensor that really helped us take the intake manifold off and on. Still pisses me off though, this stupid design of putting the valve in such a no access area. What really burns me is the guys at the dealer when they replaced my oil pressure sensor ( which at the time was under warranty ) could have mentioned it and I would have had them replace the valve then. Took two of us about 2 and a half hours to do it being extra slow and careful. But enough ranting, this forum saved me again with the tips, and the codes and little things to look for. Thanks again everyone.
I will be doing LG LT install on a 2000 pretty soon and I will be needing the instructions. I would appreciate it if you could email them to me at nouman1@hotmail.com
I used these step by step, the AIR tube swap (including the check valve) are at the end of the procedure. If it worked for an old navy guy it will work for you
Congratulations, Steveo. And, as I mentioned in my PM to you, changing the check air valve is a pain in the azz, BUT, it is also doable without having to remove the manifold. Regardless, ya done real good!
Belive me I tried everything everyone suggested, I just couldn't get the valve out without pulling the manifold. The bracket holding the tube was on really tight and I couldn't get a wrench on it. Hands are too damn big I guess. Either way, it's done on to the next project. Thanks again guys

I think it's just the amount of air and condensation that travels thru the system. Mine were totally clogged with corrosion or rust or crud of some kind. From what I read about the F cars that have the same system, If I understand it right. I think it's just for lower emissions on start up. A lot of those guys were removing it completely anyway. Not in California though, can't get away with anything like that here, not with our sucky smog laws.
Steveo, you are definitely on the right track. And, for all those interested, the following link will allow you to access a very insightful CF forum thread where I specifically discuss the check air valve R/R issues. Best wishes to all:
