Scoggins- Dickey in Texas and Fred Beans has them at $6350
Thats not a short block its a bare block.
I spoke to my dealer contact, and the ls7 block is in the as yet unreleased gmpp catalog. There is no price, but my guess is $4000-$4500 due to the fact that the block has pressed in sleeves.
the C5R shortblock is available from at least one sponsor...$6395, add heads injectors, intake and you're in business....GM#12480030
If you shop around you can sometimes find big discounts. I got mine (this same #) for $5100. Note that the C5R block you buy under this # is a wet sump version as opposed to the dry sump in the LS7, another reason its easier to use the C5R if you are building up an engine yourself. It comes from GM in a lovely wooden crate labeled "7-Liter LS1" on the case and the certifcation sheet inside, not "C5R," to denote that it will in fact take a stock LS1 oil pump, pan, etc. You can see a picture of a completed engine at: http://www.corvetteforums.com/albump...Type=2&apage=1
And in answer to the standard question about the engine, the coil packs were relocated to under the front fenders, so that you can see the Katech high rise rocker covers - they were too pretty to keep covered up.
