Hey I just ordered some of these and I am just curious if I need anything extra to have these installed correctly? Do I need a different harness, fuel rail, connections? I am 90% sure I dont need anything but I would like to hear from people that know more than I about this subject. They are going in a 2000 MN6. Are they just plug in and go?
I up graded from the stock injectors to the SVO 30's, what a difference. I had a noticeable increased across the entire power band. I realize I need a tune to gain the full effect of the upgraded injectors because I i'm running a little rich now. The SVO's are a plug in and run upgrade. You don't have to change fuel rails or any other component....
Even with a heads/cam upgrade you prob don't need an upgrade. I upgraded from the stock for 2000 26.6# to the 28# stock for most years size, all the motor needs.
Never fails around here; member comes in and asks a straight technical question and they get opinions on whether they should be doing it at all. Sorry just getting crotchety in my old age, like the two old guys in the balcony on The Muppet Show :I
Well I'll give you credit that you did your homework and checked your injector duty cycle. All you should need is a new set of o-rings. The GM kit of 16 o-rings is a bit pricey at ~$70ish dollars, I am sure there is an equivalent something else you can use. Alot of people get by reusing o-rings, but if those are the originals, I'd get new ones. You should get your fuel table redone for them. Now would be the perfect time to get a speed density tune done. At least get an A/F reading somehow so you know you are not running way too rich.
My advice is based upon experience and data logging. I would touch 90% duty cycle with a VERY agressive tune before H/C on a 2002 coupe.
You really shouldn't do H/C without an injector upgrade. You can tune to cover it up for the most part, but you will run out of efficiency. You want to peak at about 80-85% duty cycle.
SVO's come with o-rings, you don't need to buy them.
Still, you really could spend your $$ on things that will help you until you're making more power. Without a tune I think your car will run worse/be slower. With a tune your car will be no faster unless they adjust AFR/timing along with the IPR adjustment.
Hey everyone thanks for your help. I apoligize that I did not give enough information with my question. I will be having LG Pro long tubes hi flow cats and x pipe with a tune done in about 2 weeks. My tuner let me know that usually after a long tube install on a C5 that they tend to run lean and he suggessted that I upgrade to at least a 30# injector.
Sounds like they just plug in and go. I will look into new o rings if they dont come with them already.

I've heard that before, I would like to know more... what mods do you have?

umm .. i've never heard of switching the injectors after a header install.

My tuner is going to use HP Tuners for the tune and has said that the car will run lean without bigger injectors. Im going to have to take his word for it since he has been in the corvette business for a long time and has done a ton of these header installs and tune afterwards. I am planning on putting in a H/C package in about a year, so I will have to upgrade the injectors anyways.
I touched 90% duty cycle with the same mods as you and a tune. You really don't need injectors, nor will the car run lean.
You may be a bit higher than optimal on the duty cycle, but you will gain nothing from injectors.
Ask over at LS1Tech, they're arguing if you even need injectors with headers AND a mild H/C. Most say yeas with any H/C, but it's a point of discussion.
You don't need O-Rings if you buy the SVO's. I got my Red Tops on EBay new with no issues.

This is the only comment that i read that was right on!

What if I dont wish to run my stock injectors at 90% duty cycle, or possibly even higher? All engines are not the same. Why would you even put that much stress on the injectors? If your going to put mods on your car that are going to increase hp and torque why skimp on fuel delivery. Everyone has thier own way of saving money and opinion, but personally I would not want my duty cycle higher than 80%.
I understand this is a subject where everyone seems to feel different on. In no way am I saying my stock 26#s wont work. I am trying to say that with the 26#s the duty cycle will be increased due to more hp and torque and a higher demand for fuel at certain rpms. The engine might not run lean, but the duty cycle will be above 90%.
I upgraded to the SVO 30 #'ers after several scans showed me bouncing into the 90% DC range. I installed them and retuned the fuel curve and it made a noticeable difference. Here's the thread I posted on the installation.

Hey, if you want them go ahead. Sounds like you have your mind made up and just wanted someone to validate your wants. I'm just trying to save you $200.
$200 + $400ish for a tune is a lot of $$ for a mod that won't gain you any power on the fueling end. If you're tuning the headers anyway go ahead...I'm just saying at your power level you won't get anything powerwise. Guys that say it has gained it through the tune...not the injectors.
Patches, I respect your knowledge, but how was the difference "noticeable"? Some thing else was wrong if you were getting big power changes when the previous injectors weren't maxed out. By "noticeable" I assume you mean SOTP...no way injectors gave you a seat of the pants gain in and of themselves.
