My new wheels and tires are here. I bought some Mallet 18x9.5's and 18x11's. I would like to put them on today or tomorrow. Will I get error codes from active handling if I don't reprogram?
Can I just turn active handling off?
Plus, can the Hypertech's only be used on 1 car? This what a local shop told me!?
Re: Need Help!!! Re-program for new wheels??? (TXNC5)
You need to determine if you actually gained or lost any diameter in the new wheel/tire combination compared to stock. Even though your front wheels are an inch bigger in diameter, the lower (I assume) tire aspect may negate the increase.
The hypertech programmer "trades" the stock program for the custom program set by the various "yes/no" questions that the owner sets. The programmer stores the stock settings for 1 car and 1 car only. A used programmer will not work on a second car if the original owner doesn't switch back to the stock settings, allowing the programmer to pull the custom settings back for future use.
Re: Need Help!!! Re-program for new wheels??? (TXNC5)
Your New tires 265/35/18 & 295/35/18 are 25.303" tall & 26.129" tall Respectivly. That leaves a .83" difference. The factory tires are 1" apart in height. When ordering a set of aftermarket tires and wheels for your C5... you want to stay as close to the 1" mark as possible.
In order to throw a code on your computer from the Wheel speed sensors. The sensor has to detect a wheel speed variation of 9 miles per hour or more. Once it does that it sends a signal to the EBTCM and the EBTCM sends a error code to the PCM.
The tire/Wheel combo you have selected IMO, will not have any more than a 3 MPH varriable at any one time... so what I am saying here is..... you should have no problem
