My buddie was going to bypass the clutch switch's. he grounded it and noticed that there where two switches.. one big one on the bottom and one small one on top. Well he grounded out the bottom bigger switch at first and the car would not start.
To bypass the clutch which loop should be closed anyone ever done it on a mn vette? Also now that he has put the switch back in after grounding it out the car will not start at all... .. . ?
Anyone got any ideas i really hope he didn't fry the ecu that will cost me a gabazillion of dollars to replace will it not? He did this in my garage so i can't really warrantee the work i guess im in deep ****.!
The clutch pedal switch is a single pole normally open switch, that when closed (pedal depressed), closes the contact. Nothing gets grounded.
You should see a purple and yellow wire running to the switch. If you jumper those wires together, you bypassed the switch.
If the starter won't work at all now, you most likely blew fuse #14 (10a) in the footwell fusebox when you grounded out the switch.
I wouldn't worry about the U code, especially if you've had the battery disconnected. These occur all the time.
Here is a schematic of the starting circuit, something your buddy should have had before starting this project.
look at the schematic.your boy there blew the crank fuse.the clutch switch provides 12 VOLTS to the THEFT RELAY not a GROUND.i agree with Y2K.look before you attack.do that to one of the control modules, you will have a mushroom could coming out of it
