Default Climate control malfunction?

My 1998 C5 ragtop climate control is going haywire. Most of the time the A/C comes on even if set to heat, and if I turn it off the heat won't come on. If it does'nt do that, the heat comes on and won't turn off even if I turn on the a/c. Sometimes even blows heat out one side and cold out the other! Anybody know what needs to be replaced or repaired? Thanks in advance.

The AC coming on is normal, the climate control uses it to fry the air. As far as the rest I really do not understand what is wrong.

TTT for ya

Has the trim around the ignition area ever been removed?

LH actuator is stuck or binding. In the FSM the LH actuator controls most of the airflow to the heater/ac. Pull the HVAC fuse (#27) while car is idling to reset/calibrate the actuators (LH & RH).
