Any aftermarket stereo GURUS?
I have a set of Dimaond Audio D661i 6.5" seperates with crossovers and there is a place to connect the rear speakers as fill speakers.
The question is do i just use a 2 channel amp and run the rear sail panel speakers as fill coming off the crossover? OR run the 4 channel amp i have to the front & rear speakers?
Looking for some pro's & cons here
I ran an old school PPI 4 channel to Focal Utopia 6.5" comps in the front and Boston 6.5" comps in the rear. Utilizing all crossovers to correctly drive the speakers at their intended frequency is important and you also have low and high pass control from your amp. I cut my Focals off below 60Hz and the bass is tight, clean and punchy.
The rear speakers, especially 6.5"s will fit in the rear but you may have to pilot new screw holes. You can use the existing clips (4) to secure the new rear speakers.
Don't expect too much from the rears as the stock speaker "box" is not sealed to say the least, so that will kill most of your bass below 150Hz.
I used Dynamat to help seal the box, but if I had more time fiberglass would have been optimum.
Unless you're experienced with stereo installs, check out the stickys in the audio section of the Forum for great tips on ground points and wire gauge rec's.
