This stupid oil consumption! We only have 7300 miles and the thing has gone through 4 quarts of oil. I know, I know, not as much as some, but then again, it shouldn't be using any. :(
That is a bummer; shouldn't happen. I assume it is a six speed..... there is a PCV mod that seems to help and you can get it here by doind a search. Good luck!
They will probably find this in the acceptable range. I believe Dave Hill stated 1 qt/ 2000 mi is in the acceptable range.
Mine is using a qt every 200-300 mi. No long trips planned unless I stock up on oil. The dealer is doing an oil consumption test. Said to bring it back in 500 mi. Wonder what he will say when I bring it back in 250 mi and it has used a qt. Its getting worse..
First 1800 mi - 1 qt
Next 500 mi - 1 qt
Next 200 mi - almost 1 qt
They pulled out the service bullitin about changing the rings.
I recommended waiting a bit longer, and documenting it.
I believe this is the procedure from GM. I also read the rings will not be availiable until Sept/Oct.
I'll report what happens when I take it in the next time!
P.S. GM is now paying for my oil used. Not a major cost, but the right thing to do. 1 qt oil for every 1 1/2 tanks gas.

Re: Low Oil Light AGAIN!!!! (Mervz)
I have the same problem - 1 qt about every 1000 miles. I am waiting on GM to decide what they are going to do with mine. Had the low oil level light on three times so far. Hope they come up with a good fix - even if it is buying the car back. I'm concerned about having MAJOR repairs done to my car and what it will do to the resale value down the line.
"We have seen a greater percentage of complaints than we’d like about oil consumption," John (Juriga) admitted. "The condition under which we get that oil consumption is high-rpm, light-load- like if you drive in a city schedule but never take the car out of second gear. In that situation, the piston rings can get into a flutter condition and that’s when the oil consumption takes place."
"The severity of this problem is specific to the driver," Juriga continued. "You can take a car that is a major complaint for one customer and give it to another customer who’ll have (different driving habits and) no complaints and get 5000 miles to a quart."
"This issue has become very pronounced on the Internet. People are saying, ‘Oh-we’ve got a problem with oil consumption.’ but the vast majority of customers don’t have any problem. There are a few who drive like that-and they’re entitled to, that’s why they buy a Corvette. They are the ones that have trouble and we want to try to help them."
The story goes on to discuss the new piston ring design.
I give up; what did they say was going to be different about the new rings? We've been "ringing" pistons quite successfully for a loooooong time. I cannot help but wonder what they did wrong and what they have done, design wise, to "correct" the problem. Humm...
