How well do they work from a distance? My specter werkes C5R lights with the stock bulbs could use all the help they can get.
The PIAAs everyone installs are driving, not fog lights and they reach out pretty far if you aim them up a bit. They are obnoxiously bright to oncoming traffic if you don't adjust properly though.
I have had mine sitting here for a while not wanting to run another wirring harness has any one installed them with the factory harness and if so any problems? I already added the 9005 & 9006 PIAA head lights and they did make a difference over stock. Any help on the harness question would be great I have read about guys adding 50w bulbs to the factory housings the PIAA's are 55w is there that much difference I am not an electrician
I just put the 1100X driving lights, they are so bright I think you could drive with the headlights down and still have excellent lighting. As far as the install, just get the factory switch from GM and follow the directions from the forum, the hardest thing was running PIAA's wiring, that's what takes the time on the install.I did remove my headlight covers and my hood stops to get my arm enough room to install the lights themselfs. On the factory switch,I think I paid 12 bucks or something like that.Get them off your desk and install them, its so easy.
Have the 1100x sitting here also and I need to get around to installing them. I read the tech install and tapping into the purple wire of relay 39 under the hood and splicing in the brown/white wire of the PIAA switch... expect there is not a brown/white wire; only 3 (2 solid white and 1 black).
Also, is it easier to removing/install the foglights from the top and removing the head light bazel or jacking the car yup (yuk!) and from underneath and removing the brake cooling ducts.
There are 3 wires,if you have a OEM switch from GM,cut the 3 wires from the switch that PIAA supplies,1 white wire will have no end on it,throw it away, cut the black one off short and tape it up,then the last white wire still connected will be the one that is spliced togeather with the purple wire under fuse #39,use the quick splice that is supplied by PIAA.Then it's only a matter of connecting the big white wire to the post next to the fuse box, then the black one to the ground by the hood strut. As far as the lights themselfs,I pulled the covers off the top of the headlights and the bezels out, also took the hood stops out to be able to get my arm down in to mount the lights.Real easy job from the top.good luck.
