Default Service TC/Reduced engine power:SOLVED

Lately I've had a problem with the car going into "Reduced Power" mode and the DIC screaming Service Traction Control System. (Boy does it sound bad running that way!) This usually happened when under full acceleration, at the top of third gear.

Turned out to be tire stagger causing it. I have run 275/40-17 front and 315/35-17 rear tires for years, with no problems, even though they are the same diameter. Now, the rears are worn down to a little less than half tread depth and are smaller than the fronts. Not much, but apparantly enough. I put on my new drag radials and the problem went away. Soooo.... anybody want to buy two BFG KD's, cheap?

ah yes...seems that tire wear would do that. According to the sizes you posted your fronts have an overall diameter of 25.66 inches and your rears 25.68 in. The 0.08 would definitely change with tire wear.

I find this issue interesting as I consider running the same size rims 18" all around.

Thanks for continued confirmation on the issue! Always good when you can solve it

It took 10,000 miles of tire wear, including three trips to the drag strip and 25 quarter mile runs for the wear to become a problem. New tires on order. Oh well.

I was about to order this same setup in 18's. I hate my 265's in front, they push way too much. I have 295's in back and couldn't run any bigger up front. Should I get a 275/35 for the front to run with my 315's that I will hopefully get for the rear? 18X9.5 and 18X11 wheels
