Default Dinging noise when key is inserted

Just started today, I get a dinging noise when I insert the key or it could be when I turn it to on, goes away after maybe 5 seconds. Never did this before. Can someone tell me why it is doing this?

Thanks

Rob

When my door is not completely closed, I get three quick "dings" by the time I put it in gear and start backing up. How many dings, are they slow or fast and specifically when? Without moving, in gear or park/neutral, does it repeat or continue- when?

There was about 5 of them, almost sound like a buzz and a ding togther, does it for like 5 seconds, kind of like some cars do when you don't have your seatbelt on, no specific condition seems to trigger it.

okay, I checked the dinging noise, it dings like 5 times while blinking the icon of the guy that looks like he is holding the air bag. Any clues on how to fix this?

On my car, if you get in, close the door, insert key in ignition and start vehicle, you get 5/6 dings (seat belt warning) and the Air bag Icon flashes during this dinging period. Then the dinging stops and the blinking Air Bag icon goes out. This is my normal start up. Try latching your seat belt before inserting key and starting engine to see if dinging does not happen. Air Bag icon should still blink. If the dinging is new, I couldn't guess why it just started making noise. Perhaps you have changed you startup routine. Bottom line: If the dinging stops and the Icon goes out (and stays out) that should be O.K. As for the buzzing, I don't know, but if it stops with the others, it could be normal. I assume you have no check engine lights an no other trouble messages from the display. Also: Research posts on "Checking codes" or "Checking for Codes", follow procedures and then lookup what the codes mean - more research - some are normal communication type codes that occur with most vehicles. H codes are history - not presently happening; C codes are currently active events. Lots of homework - good Luck.
(You could always try your luck and blow some money at the dealership, but you could come out worse off too)

Well the dinging stops but it never dinged like that on startup before. I had some codes a few days back and I cleared them. And best I can figure, it started after that. Seatbelt in or not in,it still dings. Hoping someone can sort this out for me as I really really really do not want to go to the stealership.

I can check, but I don't think so, I will check when I get home. Is it normal for it to ding like that on startup? I was also wondering if anyone knows what causes the check engine light to pop on. whenever I go to check the codes, there are never Current codes.

okay, checked yesterday, when I put seatbelt in, dinging stops. No codes on the car, BUT!!!! it never did this before like 5 days ago, could it be that I had a code that I recently erased that stopped the dinging from happening?

It sounds like the loss of the ding was unusual but you are back to normal now. Coulda been a code thing.
