I was wondering if anyone else has bad radio reception. I have a coupe W/ Bose system & the antenna in the windshield. My CD's play great. Some stations get some static. I know it's not the broadcasts from other vehicles I have owned.
My 97 has bad reception as well. I think i have an antenna in the windshield and the rear hatch glass. Either way, I still have bad reception. My other vehicles pick up the same stations just fine. I posted the same question a while back but received no answer other than (assuming I had an FM modulated cd changer) I should turn off my cd changer while listening to the radio. Unfortunately I have an OEM cd changer that cant be turned off and isnt FM modulated. So this wasnt my problem. Right now I just live with it....
I might take the dash off in a few weeks to put HUD in...while the dash is off im going to check my antenna connection(s)!
Hopefully someone will chime in!
Just as an EDIT: I CAN NOT pick up an AM radio station here in Detroit metro area...it continuosly scans for a station but never finds one...not that I care about AM radio...and my windows have no tinting...

My ex 98 coupe as well as my new to me 01 coupe has bad reception. The 01 is a little better AM, which isn't much, and about the same on FM. My Tahoe has much better reception all bands.
What I have been lead to believe is It has to do with a couple of issues. First there is not a lot of metal in the car for ground and the car is lower to the ground. I don't want to put a tall antenna on the car so any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a 2000 with bad reception, was told my tinted rear window is the problem.....and i now beleave them, before the window was tinted reception was fine.........
When my 98 was new, it had terrible AM reception. The FM was OK. The dealer tried to tell me it was due to my window tinting. I wouldn't accept that. Finally they found the bad antenna connection.

where was it at? the dealer told me the same TINT........
Alright...heres the word. The C5 has two antennas:
1. The first one is located in the windshield (just as we suspected). According to the service manual, this antenna is the secondary one and only receives FM signals.
2. The second one is located in the rear hatch glass (this applies to coupes). This one receives both FM and AM frequencies. These signals then proceed to an antenna buffer (only the rear signals go through this buffer, since its the main antenna) located just behind the rear clip for the removeable top on the rear roof bow. You have to remove trim panels to check these connections.
Both of the signals (from the front antenna and rear antenna (after the buffer) then proceed to the antenna module located behind and to the left of the driver seat. This module is actually located real low on the b-pillar. You have to remove trim from the b-pillar and the rocker trim to access this module to check connections. Again, this module has wires coming from the rear antenna and the front antenna and then a third wire that runs to the radio itself! Apparently this module determines which signal is stronger and then sends the stronger one to the radio. Good concept but a PITA to figure out which signal is bad or connection is loose!
